I race on a Soverel 33 named “Black & Blue”. We are very successful in local racing western Long Island Sound. I play a variety of roles on B&B, but tend to do spinnaker trim, and work in the cockpit when needed. I call a little tactics, but I am capable of sitting on the windward rail shutting up. I have been racing with the crew of B&B for over 20 years and you can call the skipper about me if you need to.
About 6 years ago I raced on a Farr 40 called “Total Eclipse”. I mostly worked the mast. I did mast. However, now that I do the math, that was 5 years ago so mast may be a stretch. I can definitely handle anything between the main sheet and the mast.
Other classes that I have raced in are: Stars, J-24's, Thistles, Ideal 18's, Sonars, Dyer Dhows (frostbiting) and Lasers (a long time ago)
I am member of the Norwalk Yacht Club and have been Chairman of the Frostbite and Regatta Committees. I am currently active in the Jr. Sailing Program at NYC.
In terms of distance racing, it has been while. However, I have crewed on multiple Block Island and Vineyard races, as well as the Edlu and Gear Busters.
I also actively crewed on the winner of the De Coursey Fales Trophy.
I was Co-Captain of the University of Rhode Island and was helped initiate URI’s highly successful big boat program.
I weigh 220 pounds
