General Information

There are several Safety at Sea (SAS) and Race Preparation Seminars planned by the organizers of the 2008 Newport Bermuda Race.  (The primary seminar, March 8 - 9 in Newport, has taken place.)  These seminars will present the curriculum of the US SAILING sanctioned seminars along with the detailed requirements of the 2008 Race.  They are recommended for crews of all yachts entering the race.    The NOR requires as a minimum that 30% of each crew must have attended a sanctioned seminar within 3 years of the start (both crew in the Doublehanded Class must meet this requirement).

Hands On, in-the-water training is being offered in 2008 for the first time.  It is being offered for those crew who desire an ISAF Approved Offshore Personal Survival Course certificate for Category 0,1,2 races that start outside of the US, like Fastnet and Sydney Hobart.  This optional training has direct application to the Newport Bermuda Race and is recommended for all offshore sailors.  Additional Hands-On Training dates before the Newport Bermuda Race will be announced on this site as soon as they are arranged.
