The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club Anniversary Regatta will take place in Bermuda’s Great Sound on Friday, June 27, 2008.

Commodore Ralph Richardson of the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club welcomes any yacht with an endorsed IRC certificate that has competed in the Newport Bermuda Race, or happens to be in Bermuda following the race, to enter the Club’s Anniversary Regatta.  Entry is easy.  Simply access the process through the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club web site or through the New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta entry system.

All boats over 25 feet LOW with endorsed IRC certificates are eligible to enter. Onion Patch Series entries must qualify for all of the events of that series. The Anniversary Regatta is the third stage of the Onion Patch Series, however yachts do not have to enter the Onion Patch Series to enter the 2008 Anniversary Regatta.

The Anniversary Regatta consists of two races sailed on June 27th, the Friday after the  finish of the Newport Bermuda Race.  The first race is windward-leeward in Bermuda’s Great Sound.  The second race is ‘around the cans’ with the start in the Great Sound and the finish off of the RBYC marina in Hamilton.  In between, you will sail a challenging but scenic course in Port Royal Bay, Granaway Deep, through Two Rocks Passage and into Hamilton Harbour.

If you decide to enter the Anniversary Regatta after you arrive, you may fill out a form available at the Newport Bermuda Duty Desk.  The fee for early entry is $125 and entry at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club after the race from Bermuda will be $150.

A crew-finder board will be available on the RBYC  web site to help captains find additional crew, and to help sailors interested in racing find boats.  Local sailors will be available who can offer local knowledge advantages.

The prizegiving party will be immediately following the regatta in Barrs Bay Park, adjacent to the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club overlooking the marina.

Commodore Ralph Richardson of the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club welcomes all yachts and sailors to Bermuda, and to the 2008 Anniversary Regatta.
