I first started sailing when I was 10 years old on a Sunfish at a local sailing camp, where I’d later become an instructor. Ever since then, my thirst for excitement, adventure, and the sea is never-ceasing. Every year since, I aimed to improve my skills, and stretch my limits; when I outgrew one boat, I’d jump to the next. I see this is the best time to pursue my passion for sailing, and becoming and ocean racer is the logical next step in my proverbial jumping to the next boat. More recently, I have had the chance to get the taste for ocean racing, having completed Block Island Race Week in 2013 on a J105, the Annapolis-Newport Race in 2015 on a Morris 47 named Reindeer, and a delivery from Bermuda to Newport in 2017 on a C&C51. In the summers, I’ve crewed on Bangor Packet, a J24 in Annapolis for Thursday Night Racing that Annapolis Yacht Club puts on. I also started the sailing club at my university, where I’ve had to not only work with my school administration but also across an international border, seeing as the closer body of water and yacht club is on the St. Lawrence River in Ontario.
