I am a 32 year old experienced crew. I am in good shape, 5′ 11″ and 190 lbs, having recently completed the Boston Marathon. I have been sailing since I was 2 years old on everything from optimist dinghies to 12 meters. I am a very easy going person who is very comfortable on boats and will fit in well with essentially any crew.
I sailed in the 2002 Newport Bermuda race on Whisper, a Canning 48. On that race we experienced particularly rough weather as most experienced sailors claimed it was the worst in recent memory complete with gale force winds and extreme waves. During the race I was one of the few not sick and drove the boat through much of the roughest weather as well as working the bow through most sail changes.
I grew up sailing on my father’s C&C 41 racing 10 Chicago to Mackinac Races and 3 Bayview Mackinac races. I have performed all positions with particular focus on foredeck, sail trim, and driving. I sailed for Boston College on their varsity dinghy and offshore team racing 420′s on the small side and Navy 44′s and a Santa Cruz 50 (our training boat) on the offshore team. I campaigned the Nelson Marek 45 “Natalie J” sailing the Stamford -Block Island race and many others. I have lots of other sailing experience that I would be more than happy to share with you if interested.
I am very excited to find a fun but serious boat to crew on in the Bermuda race. I am open to helping prep the boat or a delivery back depending on the length of the stay on Bermuda after the race as I will have to get back to work. I live in Boston, MA and ideally would love to find a boat in the New England area where I could go out at least once before to get to know the boat and crew.
