My name is Marc Güell and I am 31. I grew up in a little village in the border between France and Spain. I went to college in Barcelona (Spain) where I studied Chemistry, and Telecommunications Engineering. I moved to Heidelberg (Germany) to start my PhD in Biomedicine. I currently work as a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University (Boston, MA) in Genetics. I am fluent in English, Spanish and Catalan.
I have sailed all my life. My parents had a boat in the Mediterranean, and since I was a kid I’ve spend all my holidays on a boat. I’ve sailed from Barcelona to Mallorca, and around the Costa Brava (North East of Spain) for more than two decades. I obtained the Offshore Yatchmaster license when I was 25 in Barcelona.
I’d love to participate as crew in the Newport Bermuda Race. I will be very happy to contribute with my still limited experience, but with massive enthusiasm and effort.
