I’ve only been sailing for the last year, but in that time I’ve done as much as I can on sailboats- estimated about four and a half months on the water. I’ve worked on tallships, a 44 foot catamaran and cruised on a 32ft Pearson Vanguard. I’ve traveled around Northern California, around Penobscot Bay, from RI to Chicago via the Erie Canal and Great Lakes, from Norfolk VA to Key West and all around Florida, including a short trip to Bimini and back. I’m currently taking a break in the Nevada Desert, just outside of Vegas and been spending as much time as I can on Lake Mead (I did my first race recently!). It’s very different from the ocean, but I’m learning a lot! For that matter, I have learned so much and met so many great people with every boat, crew and Captain I’ve worked with. Always so much to learn, I am eager to set up my next adventure, and hope it will begin with this Bermuda race! The duties I’ve had in the past include general deckhand, cook, relief captain (what?!), rail candy and moral support!
