Been sailing most of my life with somewhat limited exposure to racing. Originally learned to sail in the Navy sailing program in about 1985, and participated in the 1985 Marion-Bermuda race aboard a 33 foot monohull. Understanding this is not the same as navigating for a race, I am well-qualified as a navigator, and was a Navy Surface Warfare Officer and Navigator on a destroyer, as well taking as a couple USCG Auxiliary navigation classes since then. I took the US Sailing Safety at Sea course in 2010 and plan to take it again in April in Annapolis. I owned a Jeanneau 50DS for about 7 years (up until 2 years ago), and sailed on the Chesapeake and offshore, doing the trip up to Newport and a Del Marva circumnavigation. Overall: I have no doubt I could stand watch as a deck hand or watch captain, day or night. I am energetic, in good shape, and excited to be part of any crew. I could be available the week before the race or the week after for return delivery, not probably not both.
