Dear Fellow Sailors:

It gives me great pleasure to reach out to you today and announce the opening of the entry system for the 2022 Newport Bermuda Race at 1300 EDT today.

Opening registration is the culmination of many months of behind-the-scenes work by many different committee members to organize an event that race veterans love so much—and with which new sailors can begin their own love affair. A main focus for the committee continues to be simplifying entry while meeting safety requirements, and there is no better way we can make it easier to enter than by getting you started a year ahead!

Another important focus has been to offer relief to skippers impacted by the cancellation of the 2020 race. It is with pleasure that we are able to offer a full credit for 2020 deposits to skippers re-entering for 2022. This would not be possible without the continued commitment and support of race vendors and sponsors during a time that’s been difficult for all.

Over the past winter while the world has adjusted to meeting online, we hosted five webinar sessions aimed at introducing the event to prospective sailors, outlining what’s involved in competing, and finally in our most recent webinar, explaining how to apply to enter. If you have not had the chance to watch these webinars, you can find them through the recaps on the webinar page at bermudarace.com.

I look forward to seeing you in Newport, and again in Bermuda following a successful passage in 2022.

Warm regards,

Somers Kempe, Chairman
