The Bermuda Race Organizing Committee (BROC) has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Newport Bermuda Race due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our position has always been that we can only conduct the race if conditions for competitors and local populations made it safe to do so.

Thanks to all the crew members sending us tributes to legends in the Bermuda Race. This one from Howard Coon is of Sailing Hall of Famer, John Bonds, doing his thing in the Nav station of the J-44, Gold Digger in 2006. Bonds was instrumental in shaping and requiring Safety at Sea Seminars to make ocean races like Newport-Bermuda safer for everyone. ⠀

When we asked for inspirational photos, Howard Coon sent in this photo of Jim Bishop at the helm of his J-44, Gold Digger, from 2006. Bishop passed away in 2018 but not before completing 24 Bermuda Races! ⠀
