Offshore Preparedness Seminars at Newport & Annapolis hosted by Brewer Yacht Yards

Owners and crews of more than a dozen racing, cruising, and voyaging boats took part in the Offshore Preparedness Seminar hosted by Brewer Yacht Yards on Aug. 22 at the New York YC, Newport, RI. Another Offshore Preparedness Seminar will be held at Annapolis, MD on Aug. 29 (see below).

These seminars address what's needed to sail offshore – equipment, vessel requirements, rating optimization, safety considerations, navigation, electronics, and preparing the boat for Newport Bermuda Race inspection.

Rives Potts, James Phyfe, Mike Keyworth, and other highly qualified boatbuilders, riggers, and ocean sailors reviewed personal and boat gear (including items subject to pre-race inspection). They and attendees engaged in extensive Q&A and hands-on demonstrations, plus tours of two race-ready boats led by their owners.
