Columbia the 141 foot superyacht was the largest boat entered in the 2022 race. This group won their class as the only entry but they may have been the most comfortable group thrashing out there in this authentic replica of a 1923 fishing schooner. Owned by Martin Sutter and crewed by a lucky group we hope to see these sails again in 2024.

The race is a super experience: you compete among the best, enjoy the camaraderie of your crew, and arrive at a welcoming, beautiful destination. Here are some boats who've made the journey.

The Spirit of Bermuda, a fitting name for a ship alone in her class, first in the race and elegance. She's a replica of a Royal Navy sloop of war and each Newport to Bermuda race this 3 masted schooner gets to sail for home.

Cheers to 2022's Class 14 first place boat No Surrender. A J/120 owned by Rick Hanson. In an interview for @spinsheetmagazine he said "The 120's are built for this type of race: downwind and waves to surf on. We busted 20 knots several times as we surfed down eight footers, sustaining 14 to 15 knots for extended periods." A well earned toast to this winning team. Hope to see you out there 2023.

Winning one Bermuda Race is hard enough, but how do you repeat? One of the first to do so was BARUNA (1938 & 1948), Henry Taylor's 72-foot yawl built to maximize the CCA rating rule at the time, was first both across the finish line and also on corrected time on her first win in 1938. To secure the repeat win in 1948, BARUNA, skippered by young Stillman Taylor, reached around Bermuda at 9 knots to finish from South to North.
