The Australian ocean racer holds a record nine line-honour victories for the prestigious 628 nautical mile Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, skippering the Super Maxi Wild Oats XI. He also has a notorious list of accolades spanning two and half decades skippering the Wild Oats team to multiple victories in his extensive Australian offshore ocean racing career. Other highlights include two America’s Cup campaigns and an Admiral’s Cup victory.

His passion for sailing, competition, and ocean racing fuels the company’s desire to support these events, the organizers, and sailors through select sponsorships and participation. Richards’ goal when he founded Palm Beach Motor Yachts in 1995 at Palm Beach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, was to build “A Yachtsman’s Power Boat.” Drawing from his experience as an elite ocean-racing champion and a qualified shipwright led him to design and develop the true yachtsman’s power boat which is known today as Palm Beach Motor Yachts.

This also led to the creation of the revolutionary V-Warp® Technology.
