Dear Race Captains and Sailors,

Clearing Customs Departing Bermuda: Vessels departing the island prior to Sunday at noon may complete the check-out process with Customs now, at Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, prior to Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m.  All vessels checking out need to have their full complement of crew making the passage before doing so.

Customs will not be onsite at RBYC on Sunday. Vessels that have not checked out at RBYC must clear out with Bermuda officials at the Yacht Reporting Center in St. Georges, telephone 441-297-1226. Participants should advise Customs Department that they are Newport to Bermuda Race competitors.

Vessels departing before Sunday at noon that have a full complement of crew currently on island, can start checking out now.

Duty Free Fuel Reminder: Competitors are reminded that they have an option to refuel using duty-free fuel for their departure from Bermuda. Duty Free vouchers were provided (one per boat) at the Customs Desk in Newport. These vouchers are not valid for presentation at normal fuel stations in Bermuda. Options include:

  1. Rubis has a full process listed on the Bermuda Race website (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FCHD-74VeD8PjWjfcyAyqJ-wJm49poqE/view)
  2. Sol Bermuda has also advised that they will be available to refuel any vessels looking to top up prior to departing Bermuda on Sunday morning at Penno’s wharf in St. George's Harbor between the hours of 0800 – 1200hrs. Anyone looking to purchase fuel during that time should contact Chris Gibbons at 294-5236 or 335-4594 no later than 3pm Friday afternoon with approximate volumes so Sol can schedule manpower and load the truck accordingly. Sol’s current duty-free price is $5.95/gallon.

Warm regards,

Somers Kempe, Chairman
