Our Race HQ will be at Sail Newport, in Ft. Adams State Park.

The location offers excellent space for our competitors and volunteers, easy access by land and sea. Sail Newport is one of the premier public-access sailing organizations in the country, and we appreciate their willingness to host the Newport Bermuda Race at their facility.

  • Parking is free in the paved lot and field across the street

Sailing enthusiasts, fans and onlookers will have a one-of-a-kind vantage point from The Lawn at Castle Hill Inn, dotted with white Adirondack chairs, where they can enjoy panoramic views of the ocean and watch the sailboats flying past as they begin their journey to Bermuda on race day.

Containers to Bermuda Load at Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard, and Safe Harbor (NEB)


Imperative Logistics is pleased to offer a complete shipping service to Captains and their crew for the 2026 Newport to Bermuda event. 

  • Please complete and submit the form below by May 15, 2026, to confirm the space in the containers. Early submissions are encouraged. 
  • The form is to be used only for goods to be temporarily imported to Bermuda and which are intended to depart Bermuda either on your yacht or with an associated crew member. Goods intended as gifts, for re-sale, or otherwise expected to remain in Bermuda require a separate Customs form and are not to be included herein. 
  • Pricing is USD 15.00 per cubic foot. This includes receiving at either location in Newport/Portsmouth, loading in container, US inland and sea freight to Bermuda, customs clearance in Bermuda, and unloading from container at site near Royal Bermuda Yacht Club. 
  • Payments can be made via credit card. 
  • You may contact the Imperative contact listed above directly to arrange payment for shipping of your cargo. 
  • Weight on the form is to be reported in kilograms (or “kg”) (1 kg. = .45 lbs.) 
  • Unit value is the number of individual items, not weight. (e.g. Two sails packed in one bag) 
  • Reported value is the fair replacement cost for goods of similar age and quality, in US Dollars (“USD”). (1 US Dollar = 1 Bermuda Dollar). 
  • “Personal Effects” refers to wearing apparel and articles for personal use while traveling. Value is to be reported as fair replacement value for items of similar age and quality. It is acceptable to combine the values for each individual shipping personal articles. 
  • Space in containers provided by Imperative Logistics is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please complete and submit this form and make payment arrangements as soon as you can for a smooth transaction. Any forms received after May 15, 2026, could run the risk of space related costs. 
  • Bermuda’s Customs and Border Protection has been very gracious in accommodating the race and race participants with a simplified reporting format. Careful attention to proper completion of this information by captains is important both to this year’s race and to future race participants

Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard, one of the most popular and recommended shipyards in the U.S., is a full-service marina and shipyard with over 3,500 linear feet of dock space that can accommodate yachts up to 300-plus feet. Its amenities include a dockside café, ship store, fitness center, courtesy vehicles and crew housing. Learn more about the requirements for entering the United States with your vessel from any foreign country for the Start and for all vessels (US and foreign) upon return from Bermuda after the race.

Spectator Resources


The start of the Newport Bermuda Race is a spectacular sight the starting line will be up close to the shoreline and viewable for spectators at Fort Adams. We will have a live broadcast with commentary, aerials, and professional video coverage of all the actions that can be streamed online or seen on the big screen in State Park.

You are also welcome to join on the water, with more than 160 boats maneuvering and starting off Castle Hill in multiple classes. The first gun is expected at 1:00 p.m., and the last start, by 4:00pm. Watch from the shore, the water, or online.
