Competitor Bulletin #6—Plans and Protocols
Dear Race Captains and Sailors,
As the New Year greets us, the Bermuda Race Organizing Committee is looking forward to a successful running of the 52nd Newport Bermuda Race. We currently have 187 entries for the race and expect a large fleet on the line in June.
Our committee is ready with a plan to conduct the race based on current COVID protocols & restrictions. That plan will be updated as circumstances warrant. Close communications with the Bermuda Government Health Department and other agencies are ongoing to ensure the race can be conducted safely and not jeopardize the health of our racers or the citizens of Bermuda.
Once finalized, the requirements will be communicated to competitors, but it is safe to say that vaccinations (with booster for those that are eligible), pre-race testing, and post-race testing will be required for all sailors.
We will continue to monitor, adjust as appropriate, and communicate more on this subject as the race date draws closer. In the meantime, we wish you a Happy New Year and encourage you to continue with your boat preparations, crew safety training, and logistical planning. We look forward to seeing you on the start line in June 2022.
Warm regards,
Somers Kempe, Chairman
2022 Bermuda Race Organizing Committee
