Located on Newport Harbor at America’s Cup Boulevard, the new hotel is already a downtown waterfront fixture.

Newport, R.I. (Sept. 1, 2021)—The organizers of the 2022 Newport Bermuda Race have named Hammetts Hotel on America’s Cup Boulevard as the newest Official Sponsor of the 2022 Race. Already an integral part of the Newport Community, welcoming visitors and locals alike, the independently owned and operated hotel offers accommodations and much more, including adjacent dockage on historic Hammetts Wharf.

Hammetts Hotel, Newport, R.I., features an unhurried deck space for dinner and conversation.

“We’re pleased to have the strong support of Hammetts Hotel as an Official Sponsor of the 2022 Race,” said Somers Kempe, chairman of the Bermuda Race Organizing Committee. “Hammetts provides a special welcome for sailors, families, and fans of the race and strengthens the race’s all-important foundation in its port of origin.”

“As a former participant in the Newport-Bermuda Race, I am thrilled Hammetts is a partner in the 52nd running,” said Colin Kane, Principal of the Peregine Group, which owns Hammetts Wharf. “The hotel is fortunate to be located in the center of America’s Sailing Capital, and we hope everyone sails fast!”

Planted in the middle of the Newport on America's Cup Boulevard, Hammetts Hotel holds an anchor position on the city waterfront.

Anchoring the waterfront along America’s Cup Boulevard, Hammetts Hotel gracefully invites visiting and local sailors and their friends to the latest venue of the Newport community. Sailors will especially appreciate the modern, comfortable harbor-view rooms with nautical decor and a full-service marina just steps away. The Hotel has special attractions, including the Sarah Langley Gallery, which displays the work of artists from around the world with Newport ties, and Giusto, a relaxed restaurant where you can take in the view across the docks and the Harbor while enjoying the afternoon sun and sunsets. The Deck at Hammetts is open to the public and incorporates several shops.

Hammetts Hotel is owned by Peregrine Group, a Rhode Island company, and operated by Main Street Hospitality, which focuses on independent hotels that engage community. In Newport this not only means creating the Sarah Langley Gallery, named for the only female owner of the wharf, but building a partnership with Kristen Coates’ Newport Curates & Jessica Hagen Fine Arts and then providing a percentage of sales’ proceeds to benefit the MLK Community Center of Newport.
