Competitor Bulletin #17 – COVID Test Pre-Registration; Sailor Categorization
Dear Sailors:
Final reminder: the deadline is tomorrow for COVID-19 test registration with TestZone, our provider of pre-race on-site testing at Sail Newport and one of our providers of proctored testing by video—click here to pre-register.
As we wrote recently, we have made arrangements with two COVID-19 testing services with which you may work, at your option, to obtain the required negative pre-race tests to allow you to receive your Bermuda Mariner’s Travel Authorization. To date, a minority of the fleet has registered with one of these services—either TestZone or Fit to Fly BDA. You still have time to register for a proctored Antigen test with FittoFlyBDA (on a space-available basis). You also may make your own arrangements for testing. Now is a good time to decide on the best option for you and your crew.
See our COVID-19 page for full details on all options and follow links to register.
WorldSailing SailorIDs and Categorizations can now be processed on-line & Group categorizations and valid dates are now imported into SailGate
All Sailors who need a valid Group 1 Categorization (that will be most competitors in St. Davids, Finisterre, and DH):
If your valid group categorization is not displayed in SailGate after being issued by WorldSailing, first ensure your Sailor ID is correctly entered in your SailGate profile (miscellaneous/settings). If after 24 hours you still do not see your valid categorization please contact entry@bermudarace.com.
All Captains
Special Entry is required to compete for five race prizes.
Each year some sailors fail to register for the Special Trophies before the race and subsequently miss out on some terrific prizes they could have won! Don’t let this be you.
Glenn Family Prize—rewards family crew participation
H. Irving Pratt 3-Boat Team—a chance to compete as a team
Regional Trophy Selection—recognizing those who come a distance to race
City of Newport Trophy—for “best performing ‘foreign’ yacht
Stephens Brothers Youth Prize—for top performance by a youth crew
Gulf Stream Preparation
2022 Gulf Stream Analysis, One Month to Go is the first of three pre-race notes by navigator and oceanographer Frank Bohlen encouraging early study of the form and structure of the Gulf Stream this year.
Warm regards,
Somers Kempe, Chairman
