There are a number of special prizes that teams must declare to be eligible and there are years where teams forget to register for them when they could have won them. Forms can be submitted via the links below no later than 0900 hrs. Friday, June 21, 2024. There is a list on each page of those who have already submitted.

Glenn Family Prize

A minimum of four (4) family members, at least one of whom is a member of the afterguard (skipper, watch captain, navigator), all sailing on the same vessel. Family member” is defined as a legal relative by blood, marriage or adoption. This includes (and is limited to) the following: parents, grandparents, children, siblings, spouses, sons/daughters/brothers/sisters/parents in-law, first cousins, nieces/nephews. 

Stephens Brothers Youth Prize

Yachts racing to Bermuda may qualify for the Stephens Brothers Youth Division by meeting the following criteria; completing and submitting the form below form At least 50% of the yacht’s crew + 1 person shall be between the ages of 14 and 23 years, inclusive, on June 21, 2024 (the yacht’s “Youth Crew”).

Also, please aged 14-23 sailors can join the Stephens Brother Society and get a special pin by filling out this form and bringing it to the Duty Desk at RBYC.

H. Irving Pratt 3-Boat Team Entry

Entry is open to any number of self-selected three-yacht teams sailing the Newport Bermuda Race in the St. David’s Lighthouse, Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, Double-Handed and Finisterre Divisions. Teams may be composed of any 3-boat combination of vessels from these divisions. (Vessels in any one team may be from the same division or a mix of these divisions.) The winning team is that with the best combined performance under the Race’s Cross-Divisional (“X-DV”) system. No yacht may be a member of more than one team. (Tip, go to the Entry List and choose the green "Download button" that will give you a list of team WITH Club Affiliations).

Regional Trophy

The Newport Bermuda Race awards “Regional” Prizes to recognize the efforts of skippers, vessels and crew that come some distance to participate. There are 5 Regions to be so recognized: Chesapeake,

1. CANADA – All Provinces

2. CHESAPEAKE – VA, MD, DL, DC, WV; NJ/PA – if applicable

3. DEEP SOUTH – GA, SC, NC, MO, KA, FL, TX, LA, MS, AR, OK, KY, AL, TN

4. GREAT LAKES – MN, WI, MI, IL, IN, NB, IA, SD, ND; OH/PA – if applicable; Western NY – if applicable

5. PACIFIC – AK, WA, OR, CA, HI, NM, AZ, UT, NV, ID, MT, WY, CO, Foreign Pacific Locales (2016 awarded to Chinese Team)

The City of Newport Trophy for Best Performing "Foreign" Yacht

The City of Newport Trophy recognizes the special efforts of Skippers, Crew and Vessels who have come a substantial distance to participate in the Newport Bermuda Race. AND to emphasize the far-ranging significance of this Race as the sole international offshore event among the great yacht races across the globe (The only Start/Finish in different countries among offshore races.)

CCA 2-Boat Team Trophy

Teams may be composed of any combination of CCA-skippered vessels sailing SDL, GHL, FI, DH.  EVERY CCA-skippered boat from these divisions should be a member of such a team.  Cross-divisional (“X-DV”) scoring applies.  Each such vessel may be a member of only one CCA 2-boat team for this award.  (Tip, go to the Entry List and choose the green "Download button" that will give you a list of team WITH Club Affiliations).
